Cairo Tips

If you came here looking for Cairo travel tips, you’re on the right track.  Trying to navigate a place that easily qualifies as a “megacity” without any information can lead to anxiety the size of the Pyramids.

While a trip to Cairo to visit some of the most impressive remains of the ancient world can be ridiculously rewarding, I won’t try to sugarcoat it: If you aren’t prepared, there’s a good chance you’ll be scammed or ripped off.

While the Pyramids and other places you’ll visit aren’t necessarily dangerous, you need to know what to expect.  It’s essential that you know where you’re going and what the rules are — because frankly, although there’s plenty of kind and generous people around, tourist sites in and around Giza are teeming with people looking to take advantage of you.
